Villa Sora in Torre Del Greco
Villa Sora in Torre Del Greco
(oil painting on canvas)
On the threshold of the archaeological site of two thousand years ago (villa Sora).
I was absorbed there. I imagined the life that wandered in the meanders of the villa, the painter who frescoed the walls of the house, the owner of the villa intent with his family etc... my imagination went beyond the blanket of earth that blocked the view, and a fertile fantasy evoked moments of life from a remote past.
Suddenly I turned my back and saw the sea, the gulf, Capri, Ischia. A strong emotion jumped at the thought that two thousand years ago there was the owner of the house on the same threshold of the villa who looked at what I saw at that moment, and in an instant he perceived the absoluteness of time, and the ephemerality of human life.
I saw on the horizon a multiplication of shapes that went towards the sky.
The peppers represent those forms, in a state of multiplication, as well as the
generations that have followed one another over time, up to us.
My life in that state of things I perceived as a MIRACLE.
Expression of something bigger, without time or space.
The series of paintings with peppers represent that moment.
